The Stress Before the Celebration<\/b><\/p>\n

Last week our church hosted a big Valentine\u2019s Day banquet. I had agreed to emcee the night and put together a \u201cNewlywed Game\u201d for some couples. I\u2019d been working on it for weeks. The questions were written. The plan was in place.<\/span><\/p>\n

But by Wednesday or Thursday, I hit a wall.<\/span><\/p>\n

I was tired. Really tired. And if I\u2019m honest\u2026 a little grumpy.<\/span><\/p>\n

My wife gently said, \u201cYou always get this way when you\u2019re stressed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She wasn\u2019t wrong.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then Friday came. The game was hilarious. The room was full of laughter. The night was a success. And by Saturday morning, I felt nothing but relief. <\/span>Whew.<\/span><\/i> It was worth it.<\/span><\/p>\n

It made me realize how often stress changes us before the outcome even arrives. We carry the weight of what\u2019s coming, and it affects our attitude, our tone, even how we treat the people closest to us.<\/span><\/p>\n

Philippians 4:6<\/b> says, <\/span>\u201cDo not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

I had prepared the event, but I hadn\u2019t fully surrendered the stress.<\/span><\/p>\n

Maybe you\u2019re in that \u201cWednesday or Thursday\u201d moment right now. Something is coming. A deadline. A conversation. A responsibility. And it\u2019s weighing on you.<\/span><\/p>\n

Before the relief of Saturday comes, don\u2019t let stress steal your joy, or your kindness. Give it to God now.<\/span><\/p>\n

Because the same Lord who will carry you through Friday night is with you on Wednesday afternoon.<\/span><\/p>\n
