It Never Fails, She Always Wants to Stay for Supper<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mercy has a friend who lives across the street. The two of them are inseparable, back and forth between houses so often that it feels like they\u2019re sisters. Sometimes we have to text her mom just to get Mercy to come home. Other times, when they\u2019re at our place and supper time rolls around, we have to send her friend back across the street.<\/span><\/p>\n

And without fail, every single night, she asks, \u201cCan I just stay for supper?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019re never serving anything amazing. It\u2019s not like we\u2019re putting out a feast. She\u2019s not afraid to go home. Honestly, I think she just wants to be here\u2014to sit at the table, to be part of the conversation, to belong in that moment.<\/span><\/p>\n

And as much as we love her, we\u2019ve decided that, most nights, supper is for our family.<\/span><\/p>\n

But it got me thinking\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

There\u2019s something powerful about being invited to the table. There\u2019s something in us that longs to belong, to be included, to be part of the family. And that\u2019s exactly the picture Scripture gives us of what Jesus has done for us.<\/span><\/p>\n

Revelation 3:20 says, <\/span>\u201cHere I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Jesus doesn\u2019t just offer us forgiveness from a distance, He invites us to the table. He invites us into relationship, into fellowship, into family.<\/span><\/p>\n

And here\u2019s the beautiful part: the table of God isn\u2019t limited to just a few seats. There\u2019s room for anyone who wants to come.<\/span><\/p>\n
