Who is someone in your life right now that you’re praying will come to know Jesus?<\/p>\n

Morning Devotional:<\/u><\/p>\n

During my vacation, I watched a documentary on the War of 1812 and the story of Dolly Madison saving the portrait of George Washington.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As the British were about to destroy the White House, Dolly Madison stayed as long as possible, insisting on saving that painting. In order to do so, the elaborate frame had to be smashed so the canvas portrait could be smuggled out to safety. The frame had to be sacrificed to save one of our country\u2019s most enduring symbols of national glory.<\/span><\/p>\n

Think about the art in your home. The frame’s fundamental job is to direct your gaze to the painting or photo. It’s supposed to enhance, not overshadow.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our lives are the same. Everything about us\u2014our successes, our character, the grace we show\u2014should function as a “frame” for God’s glory. If we use our gifts only to draw attention to ourselves, we turn the focus away from the glory of the subject.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is why I think <\/span>Psalm 115:1 is so beautiful: <\/span>“Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness!” Our primary mission is to ensure that our frame never hides the Masterpiece. Let’s make sure our actions always point directly to the praise of our faithful God.<\/span><\/p>\n
