Coming back from our Thanksgiving gathering in eastern Pennsylvania, we knew we\u2019d eventually hit that big winter storm. Sure enough, just as we were almost through Ohio, the snow started falling. By the time we reached my wife\u2019s parents\u2019 place in northern Indiana, it had been coming down thick and heavy for hours.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And that\u2019s when we faced our dilemma. My in-laws live on a steep incline, and while their driveway had been plowed, it definitely wasn\u2019t clear. I tried several times to get up it. Failed every time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My father-in-law came outside and told me what to do. \u201cBack up about 30 feet on the road, get some good speed, and then turn right up into the driveway.\u201d I didn\u2019t even try, just hopped out and said, \u201cYou do it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He didn\u2019t make it all the way up either\u2014but he got a whole lot farther than I did. And that\u2019s where we parked.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are moments when we simply can\u2019t get up the hill on our own. We try, we strain, we give it our best effort, but we still slide backward. And in those moments, God often sends someone wiser, more experienced, or just steady enough to help us get farther than we could have alone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sometimes His help looks like strength\u2026 and sometimes it looks like a father-in-law taking the wheel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">May we remember that needing help isn\u2019t failure.
