Grocery Store Greetings<\/b><\/p>\n

My 17-year-old son, Malachi, works at a grocery store in the produce department. He says he now knows more about fruits and vegetables than he ever wanted to. Recently, a new policy came down from management: every employee\u2014yes, even the humble produce clerk\u2014has to greet every customer who comes within a certain number of feet.<\/span><\/p>\n

Malachi was laughing as he told me about it, saying, \u201cDad, for an introvert, that\u2019s terrifying\u2026 on both sides!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

It made me smile, but it also got me thinking. Sometimes, sharing our faith can feel the same way. We know we\u2019re supposed to do it, but when the opportunity gets close\u2014when someone steps into that \u201cgreeting zone\u201d\u2014we freeze up. We tell ourselves we\u2019re not the right person, or it\u2019s not the right time.<\/span><\/p>\n

But here\u2019s the thing: God doesn\u2019t ask us to give a sermon. Sometimes, all He\u2019s asking for is a simple \u201chello,\u201d an act of kindness, or a word that points someone toward Jesus.<\/span><\/p>\n

Colossians 4:5\u20136<\/b> says, <\/span>\u201cBe wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

We don\u2019t need all the answers, and we don\u2019t have to be outgoing to make an impact. God simply calls us to be available\u2014to greet the people He puts in our path with the love of Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n

So today, when someone steps into your \u201cgreeting zone,\u201d don\u2019t shy away. Smile, engage, and let God use that moment. You never know how a small hello could open the door to something eternal.<\/span><\/p>\n
