I don’t think I’m old enough for senior moments but I’m pretty sure I’m having them, as I seem to be getting more and more forgetful.

After a hunt for yet another lost item last night, I had a thought. Can forgetting something be a good thing? The Apostle Paul talked about intentional forgetfulness in Philippians 3:13-14. He wrote, “One thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

This seems like a contradiction, but it’s not. Remembering the cross is precisely what empowers us to forget our past sins and failures. His sacrifice is the one great memory that frees us from the grip of all the others. When we remember His forgiveness, we can stop defining ourselves by our mistakes. Remembering the cross allows us to finally forget what lies behind and strain forward to the future He has promised.

– Beth

Bible Quiz: What wealthy man had 14000 Sheep?

Answer: Job 42:12

Storytime: Speedy Omelet

Just one More thing!

What Day is it?
