Serving Jesus Means What?<\/p>\n
\u201cWhoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.\u201d<\/em> – \u00a0John 12:26 (NIV)<\/p>\n Have you noticed that pretty much anywhere you look, success always seems to be measured by titles, influence, and achievement? Yet when we look at the Word, Jesus redefines greatness. He doesn\u2019t call us to climb the highest social ladders or collect shiny trophies; He calls us to\u00a0serve. It\u2019s not a secondary task or a side job\u2014it is the<\/strong>\u00a0highest calling of the believer.<\/strong><\/p>\n John 12:26 also reminds us that service is inseparable from\u00a0following. Jesus doesn\u2019t say, \u201cServe me from a distance,\u201d or \u201cSupport my mission occasionally.\u201d He invites us to\u00a0walk with Him, to\u00a0be where He is, and to\u00a0live a life of close communion\u00a0with Him through humble, loving obedience. Notice the reward:\u00a0\u201cMy Father will honor the one who serves me\u201d.<\/em>\u00a0What a breathtaking promise! The Great I AM recognizes and celebrates the one who chooses to serve Jesus with a faithful heart.<\/p>\n So, I guess there are a couple questions we should be asking ourselves. Am I following Jesus closely in the way I serve, or just doing things for Him at a distance? What distractions compete with my calling to serve Jesus wholeheartedly?<\/p>\n Remember, this is a joyful calling! It has a lot to do with the posture\u00a0of your heart…\u00a0the place that can’t be seen with natural eyes.\u00a0But God sees what\u2019s done in honor of His son.<\/p>\n My friend, keep showing up. Keep loving well.
