Morning Devotional<\/span>:<\/p>\n

My front yard is currently overrun with maple tree seeds. You know, those little helicopter-like spinner things? They are covering the lawn, filling the gutters, piling up my flower beds and getting tracked into my house. It happens every year and while they make a mess, they are also a reminder of an important spiritual lesson about seeds.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Matthew chapter 13, Jesus tells the parable of the sower. In the parable, He talks about what happens when the seeds of God\u2019s message to the people fall on a path, in rocky places, and in thorny areas. Jesus also says this: “<\/span>The seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

God constantly sowing His truth into our lives, just as prolifically as those maple seed helicopters in my yard. Every sermon, every Bible study, every quiet moment of prayer and reflection\u2014those are all seeds from God. If you\u2019ve ever wondered whether or not you\u2019ve heard God speak, consider this. The question isn’t whether God is sowing; it’s about the condition of our “soil.”<\/span><\/p>\n

My prayer is that my heart, and yours, will always be good soil. I pray that we would not just hear God\u2019s Word but allow it to take root and bear fruit in our lives\u2014fruit that blesses others and glorifies Him, perhaps even a hundredfold.<\/span><\/p>\n
