You lost it and then found it in a funny or strange place. What was it, and where was it found?<\/p>\n

Morning Devotional<\/span>:<\/p>\n

I\u2019m sure I\u2019m not alone when I say the weekend was way too short.<\/span><\/p>\n

I had the potential for a very relaxing weekend. My to-do list got the best of me and I spent much of the weekend catching up on work and finishing some overdue projects at home.\u00a0 When it got to about 8:00 in the evening, I asked myself the same question I do most every Sunday.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhy am I so tired?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Now I could go into details about how I didn\u2019t sleep well Friday or Saturday night, or didn\u2019t take the afternoon naps I could have over the weekend. What I do know is this: I missed the opportunity to rest, and I\u2019m not just talking about the catching up on sleep kind of rest, either.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Matthew chapter 11, Jesus offers a great invitation. He says, \u201c<\/span>Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The word \u201crest\u201d in this passage is the Greek word \u201canapauso.\u201d The term can mean to rest as in taking an intermission or a break, but the root of the word also points to the state of being refreshed, or resting yourself upon something. In the case of Matthew 11:28, Jesus is inviting us to rest in Him.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finding that state of true rest can be challenging. It certainly is for me. That\u2019s why I ask for grace from the Lord, and for the wisdom I need to find that time and place to slow down and reconnect to Him. I\u2019m so glad He answers that prayer.<\/span><\/p>\n
