It made me feel tall\u2026 and helpful.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There’s something unexpectedly uplifting about being the person someone asks for help. Last week, my wife sent me for a grocery pickup\u2014her favorite modern convenience. But I’m a deal hunter at heart, so after collecting our order, I wandered the aisles just to see what treasures I might find.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then it happened. A young woman waved me down with a hopeful, “Sir… could you reach that?” She was pointing to the last box of cornstarch, perched just beyond her fingertips. Now, I’m no giant\u2014standing at a modest 5’10″\u2014but I could\u00a0<\/span>just<\/span><\/i>\u00a0stretch far enough to grab it for her.<\/span><\/p>\n

That simple moment made me stand a little taller (pun intended). Not because of any heroic feat, but because she saw me as approachable\u2014someone safe to ask for help. In a world where we often avoid eye contact or bury ourselves in phones, being the person someone trusts with a small request feels like a sacred gift.<\/span><\/p>\n


\n<\/span>Jesus specialized in being approachable\u2014whether for big miracles or simple needs. That cornstarch box reminded me that we’re called to be His hands in ordinary moments. Our willingness to be interrupted, to stretch a little further, or to simply smile when asked makes us living proof that God cares about life’s small details.<\/span><\/p>\n


\n<\/span>Today, pray for eyes to see those “cornstarch moments” around you. Maybe it’s reaching an item, holding a door, or just being present enough that someone feels safe to ask. After all, the kingdom of God is built not just on grand gestures, but on a million small kindnesses that make people feel seen. Who knows? Your willingness to be asked might be someone’s answer to an unspoken prayer.<\/span><\/p>\n
