Well, my puppy did it. She destroyed her first toy.<\/span><\/p>\n

My new puppy is a Yorkshire terrier named Abbie, which is Hebrew for \u201cmy father\u2019s joy.\u201d She has certainly brought me a lot of joy over the past three weeks as my afternoons and evenings are now consumed with play time and training. I have also enjoyed seeing the progress she has made. She knows the command to sit, lay down, and is starting to figure out how to stay when I tell her to.<\/span><\/p>\n

Abbie has also been somewhat destructive. She is gnawing on everything and last night, she chewed her favorite toy into pieces.<\/span><\/p>\n

I wasn\u2019t even sure she would like the thing when I bought it. The big white plastic rolled up newspaper was stiff and barely fit in her mouth. It had the most obnoxious squeak of all of her toys and she loved it. When we were playing last night, I discovered that it had lost its squeak – along with a few corners, which Abbie had chewed off.<\/span><\/p>\n

As we played with it last night, the experience wasn\u2019t the same for her or for me. So I made a decision this morning. After work, I\u2019m going to the pet store to buy another big white plastic rolled up newspaper for my sweet Abbie to enjoy. Why? Because it brings me joy to see her happy.<\/span><\/p>\n

I am reminded of a favorite verse of mine in the Word. In Matthew chapter seven, Jesus says this: \u201c<\/span> If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!\u201d Our heavenly Father is the giver of all good things and He loves to bless His children. Why?\u00a0 What brings us joy brings Him joy as well.<\/span><\/p>\n
