Not too long ago, my mother did something I have wanted her to do for years. She showed me her wedding gown.<\/span><\/p>\n

My parents married in the late 1960s and were both in college when their wedding was held. My mom\u2019s dress was simple yet elegant, and apparently a popular style. She ordered it from the JCPenney catalog.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I wish I could say I longed for the day I would eventually wear her wedding dress. Unless the Lord has something to say about it, getting married is not in my future and Mom\u2019s dress is about eight sizes too small for me. There\u2019s no way I could wear it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I may never wear my mother\u2019s wedding gown, but I do take heart in the fact that I am a bride. You and I, as the Church, are called the bride of Christ and I love the image of that because it points to the most loving, intimate and amazing relationship possible. When we trust in Jesus as Lord, we know we have a perfect, faithful groom who gave everything to make the way for us to be with Him for eternity.\u00a0 He has been preparing for this coming marriage since time began.<\/span><\/p>\n

Revelation 19:7 says,<\/span> \u201c<\/b>Let us rejoice and shout for joy! Let us celebrate and ascribe to Him glory and honor, for the marriage of the Lamb at last has come and His bride has prepared herself.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Love stories don\u2019t always have happy endings, but this one does. We know one day that celebration is coming when we are presented as a bride without spot or wrinkle. His love for us makes that day possible. Here comes the Bride!<\/span><\/p>\n
