Morning Devotional<\/span>:<\/p>\n

I saw a news story that talked about how budget cuts have forced weather prediction centers to do fewer weather balloon launches over the course of a given period of time, and how having fewer launches would affect the accuracy of daily weather forecasts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Weather balloons <\/span>carry instruments to the stratosphere to send back information on things such as <\/span>atmospheric pressure<\/span>, <\/span>temperature<\/span>, <\/span>humidity<\/span> and <\/span>wind speed<\/span>. They serve as a meteorologist\u2019s \u201ceye in the sky,\u201d one of many tools at their disposal to protect us from severe weather threats.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet with all of the technology available to us, we know that sometimes the forecast is still wrong. <\/span>Storms come upon us suddenly with little or no warning at all. The best of information or the finest of weather professionals don\u2019t always give us the heads-up we want or need.<\/span><\/p>\n

Storms in our lives are much the same way. We can think we know God\u2019s plan and yet a trial can take our lives on an unpredicted turn. When those times come, what are we supposed to do?\u00a0 The Word reminds us that we are to rely on God rather than our senses or our intelligence.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Isaiah 50:10 says, \u201c<\/span>Who among you fears the <\/span>Lord<\/span> and obeys the word of his servant? Let the one who walks in the dark,<\/span> who has no light, trust in the name of the <\/span>Lord<\/span> and rely on their God.\u201d I don\u2019t know when storms come but when they hit, <\/span>I can have peace in the middle of them because the Creator of that storm is trustworthy and in control.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
