Today is St. Patrick\u2019s Day and I, like many others, will take advantage of the day to wear the color green. That\u2019s not a hard task for me. Green is my favorite color, and it happens to be a staple in my wardrobe. Do I have any Irish blood in me? I don\u2019t know for sure, but the Crosbys have roots in the British Isles so it is entirely possible.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, St. Patrick\u2019s Day is a far cry from being a day of remembrance for the man credited for bringing Christianity to Ireland. It has turned into a fun celebration, focused on rivers that are dyed green for the day, shamrocks, and leprechauns who hid their proverbial \u201cpots of gold\u201d at the end of rainbows.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Could you use a pot of gold right now? I know my checkbook could. It would be easy to desire and chase after material treasures but is that to be our primary focus? The apostle Paul talked to the church in Colossae about another kind of treasure we are to hunt down.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Colossians 2:2, Paul shares a prayer with his readers. \u201c<\/span>My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ,<\/span> in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The riches of Christ have no limit! They are eternal, cannot be stolen, and they can’t be taxed. There is no kind of worldly \u201cpot of gold\u201d that could ever compare with the surpassing value of knowing and loving our Savior. That\u2019s what makes us truly rich.<\/span><\/p>\n
