Do contracts make you nervous?<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve signed a few of them in recent years. I signed one to purchase my home and join my HOA, I signed one to join the gym I belong to, and to take out a personal loan. I had to sign one on Saturday to take my puppy home. When two parties agree to and sign a contract, it is a binding agreement. It details each party\u2019s responsibilities and becomes a clear, legal declaration of their commitment.<\/span><\/p>\n

I was filing the contract paperwork for my new puppy and I had a thought. These types of contracts echo the ultimate contract, the covenant that God has made with us. His is not written in ink on paper, but it is written in blood on a cross. The blood of Jesus is the signature that seals the deal.<\/span><\/p>\n

God’s covenant outlines responsibilities. He asks for our faith, our obedience, our love. He asks us to trust Him, to walk in His ways. In exchange, God promises us forgiveness, eternal life, and His constant, unwavering presence.<\/span><\/p>\n

We all know that the contracts we sign in this world can be broken at any time. God\u2019s covenant is unbreakable. When any doubt about that tries to creep in, I can look to our contract, to the cross of Christ, and remember the signature. The promise of God’s love is everlasting.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,\u201d declares the Lord. \u201cI will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.\u201d\u00a0 (Jeremiah 31:33)<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
