It still cooked food fine—all the burners worked, and the oven heated up—but the buttons on the front started sticking. Adjusting the baking temperature or setting the timer became harder and harder until, finally, they just stopped working altogether. So, for a long time, we could only cook at 350 degrees.

My wife, being the saint that she is, just adapted—cooking some things longer or avoiding certain recipes altogether. But eventually, I decided enough was enough and called in a repairman. A few hundred dollars later, we had a brand-new circuit board, and everything worked perfectly again.

Well… almost.

See, the display panel was basically a sticker, and in the process of fixing the stove, it tore. Now, the stove functions just fine, but it doesn’t look as nice as it once did.

It made me think—how often do we focus on appearances rather than what truly matters? We can get so caught up in how things (or even ourselves) look on the outside that we forget the real priority: being restored and useful in God’s hands. Life can leave us with some scars, but when God repairs and redeems us, He makes us whole where it truly counts.

“But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.’” – 1 Samuel 16:7

You may not always look perfect, and life may leave you with a few rough edges. But when God restores you, you are fully functional in His purpose—no matter how things appear on the outside.

So, don’t worry if your story isn’t picture-perfect. If God has fixed you, you’re exactly where you need to be.

-Ryan

Bible Quiz:

Question:

This Goddess of Asia had a magnificent temple in Ephesus, a city where Paul ran into trouble with some of her followers, Who was She?

Answer:

Artemis (Diana ) Acts 19:23-20:1

Storytime: I’m the King of Fixing Toilets!

Just One More Thing!

What Day is it?
