I have a relative who is not much of a conversationalist. When I call him up on the phone and he is in a certain mood, our chats are pretty short and consist of one-syllable sentences.<\/span><\/p>\n

This relative has been going through some pretty tough stuff as of late, and the other day I was very surprised by a phone call I received from him. There were no one-syllable answers to my questions, and no awkward silences between us. He talked, he shared what was going on, he opened up to me like never before and by the time we were an hour into our conversation, we were laughing and joking around like best buds.<\/span><\/p>\n

I hung up the phone, shocked by what had transpired. For a person who was typically tight lipped, this was a breakthrough.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It had me thinking about how God must feel at times in our relationships with Him. Conversations where only one person is doing the talking are tough to maintain. Relationships where one person is far more invested than the other are bound to leave someone hungry for more connection.<\/span><\/p>\n

Have you ever been in a one-sided conversation with God?\u00a0 Have you ever gone to the Lord and offered up the short, choppy prayer and later wonder why God doesn\u2019t respond to your requests? Prayer is conversation, an investment in a relationship and the opportunity to pour out our heart to God in complete trust that He hears us and cares about what concerns us. Jesus himself prayed to the Father for hours on end – even all night, as it says in Luke 6:12. If He took the time to pray and converse with our Daddy God, shouldn\u2019t we?\u00a0 Don\u2019t cut your prayer time with Him short.<\/span><\/p>\n
