I noticed it on the floor and didn\u2019t give it much thought.<\/span><\/p>\n

A single black ant was making its way along the baseboard in my bathroom one day and because there was just one, I let it go. No big deal, right?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Apparently, it was a big deal because the next morning there were more than a dozen on the same path and by nightfall, a corner of the floor was significantly darkened by the little buggers. A colony of ants had decided my bathroom was a nice place to warm up from the winter chill outside.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I wish I could say this was a first-time appearance but no, the same thing happened to me last year – and at that time, I chose to do nothing about the unwanted houseguests. This time, I will have to take a more aggressive approach if I want to rid myself of the pests.<\/span><\/p>\n

I was definitely kicking myself. When I first noticed the signs that something was wrong, I did nothing. I purposely did nothing – and there are times we do the same things in our spiritual lives.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s easy in the busyness of life to become complacent in nurturing our spiritual health. We may notice that we\u2019re drifting a bit spiritually. Perhaps we notice subtle changes in our character, desires, or behaviors. But too often, we ignore the warning signs and purposely do nothing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Instead, we should be on the lookout for spiritual drifting. We can regularly survey our hearts, read the Bible, repent, and pray. We can worship and fellowship with other believers and ask trusted friends to be accountability partners with us. When we know something isn\u2019t right, we can cry out to the Lord, seeking His strength, forgiveness, wisdom, and healing.<\/span><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s get into spiritual pest control mode and guard our hearts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
