It used to be a toy box that my grandparents had in their home when I was a child. My mom painted it years ago, but I have had it in my mind to strip the paint and restore the box to its former glory.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has sat in my bedroom for nearly 20 years, in two different homes, untouched.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019m not very skilled in the do-it-yourself department and I have yet to figure out how to best start the project of restoring that box. My perfectionistic mind has concluded that if I can\u2019t do the job right, then I probably shouldn&#8217;t do it at all.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Perfectionism has a tendency to tell us that if we don\u2019t achieve flawless execution on something, then we may as well consider ourselves failures. I certainly felt that way until I received some very good advice: When attempting a task, remind yourself that even if you blow it, God still loves you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2 Corinthians chapter 12, the apostle Paul has this to say about being okay with our imperfections. \u201cBut <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">he said to me, \u2018My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.\u2019 Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ\u2019s power may rest on me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wouldn\u2019t we want God\u2019s power to flow in our day over our own?\u00a0 If God\u2019s power is made perfect in our weakness, then we shouldn\u2019t shy away from our imperfections. Instead, we can lean on the Lord and choose to delight in our imperfections.
