Have you ever had the urge to turn around and go home?\u00a0 Ever wanted to forget about forging ahead and going back to what was familiar?\u00a0 When things get rough and I am being stretched in my faith, there usually comes a moment when I want to retreat and return to the way things were – the place where the conditions weren\u2019t the greatest but it\u2019s what you have known and the uncertainty and unfamiliarity of where you\u2019re headed are non-existent.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019ve all been there.<\/span><\/p>\n

Heading out into uncharted waters is stressful, scary and even painful. When those times come, we have to weigh out a big decision. Do we go forward, or do we turn around?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The story of Lot\u2019s wife has been on my mind the past few days. Lot and his family were being spared from the destruction of Sodom, but Mrs. Lot made the mistake of looking back at the fiery blaze engulfing the city, dooming herself to becoming a pillar of salt. I used to be quick to judge her actions until I thought of the notion that her life in Sodom had some good parts, too. She raised her children there. She likely married there. God\u2019s judgment on Sodom and Gomorrah didn\u2019t come on her timetable and certainly wasn\u2019t in her plan for sure, but God\u2019s timetable is always focused on the present and not the past, and if God is calling you forward, it\u2019s always the best plan to obey.<\/span><\/p>\n
