When I returned from my Thanksgiving weekend, I expected my home to be a little cool since I had turned my thermostat down before I left. I was not expecting my home to be a chilly 50 degrees, however. A quick inspection determined that for some reason, at 3:30 pm on Thanksgiving Day, my furnace experienced an ignition failure.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thankfully, the previous owner of my home left me the manuals for every appliance in my place, including copious notes about the operation of my furnace. It took about a half hour of reading and a little prayer but, praise the Lord, the furnace relit, and my house was toasty warm once again.<\/span><\/p>\n

Have you ever had a time when you felt like your spiritual pilot light went out? Talk about a frustrating season. You\u2019ve gone from burning brightly for Christ to feeling cold and lifeless. There\u2019s a fix, though, and the apostle Paul hints to it when he encourages his protege Timothy.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2 Timothy 1:6, Paul tells Timothy to “fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.” To me, this verse is a reminder that we all have this spark inside of us that can be rekindled. It may take prayer or some study time in the manual that is God\u2019s Word, but that fire inside us can burn bright again.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
