I\u2019m sure it\u2019s because I have been so ultra-sensitive to the possibility of critters in my home this fall, but lately any little sound puts me on alert.<\/span><\/p>\n

I was doing some work in my office yesterday evening when I heard what sounded like rustling coming from another room. I was the only person here at the time so this sound was a bit out of place. I did what you would imagine anyone would do. I froze in my tracks, perked my ears up, and listened to see if something was awry.<\/span><\/p>\n

I couldn\u2019t hear anything else so I went back to what I was doing, but every sound afterward seemed to warrant a little more scrutiny. Was the audio switcher in the next room making that clicking sound? Was that buzz I heard in the song that just played or did it come from something else? When the time finally came for me to go home, my ears were definitely ready for a palate cleanser.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sometimes I think we believe hearing God\u2019s voice is hard. We\u2019re all ears when trouble comes our way but how do we stay in listening mode when the trial passes? Listening to God is an attitude of the heart, a muscle we exercise as part of the relationship we have with Him. We make room for it, we read His word, and we make it a point to be still and wait for Him to speak, trusting He does and will. Psalm 50:3 tells us, \u201cOur God comes, and will not be silent.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
