My back was hurting badly when I went grocery shopping yesterday so I was more than ready to leave the store. Every checkout was occupied so I had to wait in line before I could be helped. The minutes seemed like forever, and as the wait got longer, I began to entertain my brain by thinking of other long lines in history.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A quick search on my phone yielded some fun results.\u00a0 Did you know that 30,000 people lined up to eat at the first McDonald\u2019s in Moscow on the day it opened in 1990? It took just over eight hours to get served, and a Big Mac cost the equivalent of $6.25 today. The line to see Queen Elizabeth II lying in state could possibly be a world record for the longest line ever. That one averaged close to five miles in length. All in all, we spend an average of 52 days of our lives waiting in line, and for what? A free or reduced priced item? A glimpse at something? It doesn\u2019t seem worth it sometimes.<\/span><\/p>\n

There is something you can get for absolutely nothing and you don\u2019t even need to wait in line for it. It\u2019s the free gift of God\u2019s grace, paid for us at the cross by our Savior, Jesus Christ. We don\u2019t have to wait in line to receive His gift of salvation, either. As soon as we ask for it, He gives it. We won\u2019t even have to wait in line for the great banquet waiting for us in heaven, either. At that future wedding super of the Lamb, our seat will be saved for us.<\/span><\/p>\n
