\u201cJust say the word and I\u2019ll be there.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Have you ever said the phrase, \u201csay the word\u201d to someone? I overheard it said at church the other day in reference to a story in the scriptures and for some reason, it stuck with me – so much that I decided to look it up online. Did you know that the Cambridge Advanced Learner’s Dictionary and Thesaurus has a definition for the phrase? The book defines \u201csay the word\u201d as telling someone that you will do what they want at the time they ask for.<\/span><\/p>\n

We hear the phrase spoken in the story of the Roman centurion whose servant was dying in Matthew chapter eight. Jesus was approached by this man who pleaded with him to save his servant\u2019s life. He offered to go to the centurion\u2019s home but instead, the centurion offered a surprising reply:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

It happened just as the centurion asked. The servant was healed at that very moment, Jesus commended him for his great faith, and the lesson is one for posterity. When we have faith in Him, and trust that it is by His word that all things are accomplished, all things are possible. May we be a people of unshakeable faith.<\/span><\/p>\n
