The Burning Question:<\/span><\/p>\n

Now that school is out, how are you going to keep the kids busy?<\/p>\n

Mo<\/span><\/span>rning Devotional<\/span>:<\/p>\n

I was about to doze off last night when I heard a sound reminiscent of a doorbell chime. I thought to myself, who in the world would be at my door this time of night? No one that would know me well because they would know I get up way before dawn to get to work. It took me a few moments to realize the tones I was hearing were too far off pitch to be my actual doorbell. No, these were far different, and one that pointed to an issue I needed to take care of right away.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My cell phone and I are inseparable, not because I have this insatiable desire to be contacted at a moment\u2019s notice. Believe me, that is not the case! It is because my cell phone is programmed to alarm me when a number of specific events occur. For instance, I receive notifications when severe weather enters the Kinship Radio listening area. I get notifications when I am supposed to be at meetings or appointments, when certain packages arrive at my home, and most importantly, alarms sound when certain medical events occur. I\u2019m diabetic, and a doorbell chime goes off on my phone now when my blood sugar goes low. That has been a huge benefit in my medical care.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the benefits of being a child of God is that He will sound the alarms when troubles are around the corner. They may come in the form of a word of wisdom from a trusted friend, that still, small voice inside letting you know something\u2019s not right; or the unavoidable truths of God\u2019s Word. Whatever it may be, listen to it, and then do what Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us: \u201cTrust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
