I\u2019m back in the office after enjoying a few extra days off last week and while I love being back in the swing of things at work, I was blessed with one of the most productive staycations I have had in a long time. I got most of my spring cleaning done, I enjoyed some precious down time, and I gave my electric bicycle a much-needed upgrade.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I installed a rearview mirror.<\/span><\/p>\n

When I ventured out on my new e-bike late last fall, I realized very quickly I needed a rearview mirror. Rather than trying to whip my head around all of the time to see what traffic might be coming behind me, I thought a mirror would be a good investment. It took quite a few adjustments to get the angle of the mirror just right but finally, that little piece of silver-backed glass gave me the view, and the confidence I needed for a much safer ride on the city streets.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My project made me think of how much time we spend looking in our own proverbial rearview mirrors. How often have we looked back on our past mistakes when we should be looking ahead to the wide open future that our great God has set before us?\u00a0 Do we dwell on the sins of our past or the victory we are walking in that Jesus has already won for us at the cross? The life in our rearview mirror is a distant memory compared to what lies before us, and the apostle Paul helps us set our sights on what is good:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBrothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.\u201d<\/span><\/i>\u00a0 (Philippians 3:13-14)<\/span><\/p>\n
