Jesus was Light of the World at creation, Jesus is the Light who came into the world, and Jesus will be the Light who illuminates eternity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What a fitting theme for the National Day of Prayer, on Thursday, May 2, especially when there is nothing more our world needs than to be illuminated with the light of truth that is Jesus Christ!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And here is a prayer written specifically for that day by NDP Task Force President, Kathy Branzell:<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Jesus, we profess our faith in You. You are the Light of the world, and in You there is no darkness. <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

For You are our lamp, O LORD, and our God who lights our darkness. <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Forgive us for <\/em><\/span>fearing and focusing on the darkness around us instead of being filled with faith and shining like the city on a hill You have called us to be.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Forgive us for the times when we have been the absence of light, allowing darkness to dwell in America. Lead us forward to dispel the darkness<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

and bring light throughout the Church, Family, Education, Business, Military, Government, and Arts, Entertainment, and Media.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

We are saved by grace through faith, released from the darkness that once held us captive and now free to walk in the newness of life in You.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Light dispels darkness and exposes what is hidden and wicked, so we commit to rise and shine! For by You, Lord, we can take courage to<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

run against the enemy, and by our God we can fight the good fight and keep the faith as living lampstands in our communities and country.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

We fear no evil for You are with us.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Lord, Your way is perfect, You lead us on paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake. Your Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Your Word is Truth, instructing and inspiring us to live in the abundant life You gave when You saved us from the death and destruction of the enemy. <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Fill us with Truth as we read, study, and live Your Word.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

God, You are a shield for all those who take refuge in You. As we abide in You and Your Word abides in us, we take up our shield of faith and the sword <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

of the Spirit which is the Word of God and run boldly into the darkness to\u00a0Lift Up the Word and Light Up the World!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

In the Mighty name of Jesus we pray! Amen!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

John 1: 1-5<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In the beginning the Word already existed.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Word was with God,<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

and the Word was God.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

He existed in the beginning with God.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

God created everything through him,<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

and nothing was created except through him.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Word gave life to everything that was created,<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

and his life brought light to everyone.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The light shines in the darkness,<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
