Is it possible to never be afraid?\u00a0 I don\u2019t know, but I\u2019d like to think it is.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know what is influencing things but the topic of conversation in my world as of late has gravitated around fearful situations. A few of us here at the Kinship Radio studios on Monday were talking about our fear of critters. Mice, bugs, snakes, you name it – we talked about how much we didn\u2019t want to see them. A couple of conversations I had yesterday drew upon news stories that came across my desk so much that last night, I was forwarded a story about last month\u2019s shooting at Lakewood Church shooting that included the bodycam footage from a police officer who happened to be at the church at the time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Watching the video was difficult and unsettling. I could not imagine what I would have done in this woman\u2019s situation. However, there was something that jumped out at me right away as I watched this officer spring into action. As the first shots fired, she did three things: She called on the name of the Lord, she prayed, and she instinctively activated her police training to bring that situation to a close.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Those three things are steps we are to follow when we come face to face with our fears. We can call on the name of our almighty God, hand over our fear to Him in prayer, and activate our faith by taking aim at the enemy with the Word of God, our best weapon of warfare.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Psalm 27:1 says, \u201cThe Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear?\u00a0 The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?\u201d Is it possible to never be afraid? I don\u2019t know, but I do know who takes my fear away.<\/span><\/p>\n
