There are times when I really envy my dog.<\/span><\/p>\n

She can fall asleep at the drop of a hat! Now that she is older, it takes her a little while longer to find that perfect sleeping position but once she does, she is out cold in no time. What\u2019s worse, she snores. I\u2019m not talking about a cute, muted type of snore, either. Her snoring is so intense it could register on the Richter scale.<\/span><\/p>\n

My dog was sawing logs in the middle of the night while I was lying awake in bed, thinking about a number of things going on in my life. I was thinking about work, about family matters, about what the Lord was revealing to me about it all and frankly, my mind was swimming. I was concerned, worried, even fearful about what was coming my way and my internal monologue was becoming intense.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now I\u2019m no stranger to a sleepless night and I am grateful to God for a big lesson He has taught me over the years.\u00a0 What can we do in those moments when we find ourselves overwhelmed by worry? Two things – cast our cares over to God and claim His promises of rest. A new favorite promise of mine from the scriptures has been Proverbs 3:24:\u00a0 \u201c<\/span>When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet.\u201d I may still snore a little when I finally fall asleep, but my dog won\u2019t mind at all.<\/span><\/p>\n
