Morning Devotional<\/span>:<\/p>\n

I opened my eyes and was immediately confused. My phone said it was 5:30. Had I just slept through my alarm and was I late for work?\u00a0 It took several seconds for me to realize that no, I wasn\u2019t late for anything. It was 5:30 in the evening, I had fallen asleep in my living room chair and the sun had gone down. I was sitting in total darkness.<\/span><\/p>\n

Once I figured out that I wasn\u2019t going crazy, I just sat there in the dark for a few minutes. As I did, I paid attention to how my eyes adjusted to the lack of light. After a while, with the help of a single night light I have in my bathroom and a streetlight on the corner outside my home, I could start to see some details. Soon, I could see enough to walk around and not step on anything or run into the furniture.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are times when it feels like we are sitting in spiritual darkness, unable to see what\u2019s ahead of us, much less a way out. My little darkness experiment reminded me of a promise God gives us in the scriptures. Isaiah 42:16 says, \u201cI will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. These things I will do for them, and not forsake them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

As you grow in faith and trust in God, know that He will lead you out of the dark places and into the light of His love and grace.<\/span><\/p>\n
