What Day Is It?<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Morning Devotional<\/span>:<\/p>\n

I was away for an extended period of time yesterday but when I finally got home from work, my dog was pretty excited to see me. When I say that, I don\u2019t really mean \u201csee,\u201d because my dog is completely blind. She knows when I get home, though and the first thing she usually wants when I walk in the door is a meal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I apparently wasn\u2019t preparing her dinner fast enough because before I knew it, I was hearing some pretty disturbing sounds – a series of loud thumps. It was my dog, running frantically throughout the house hitting her head on every wall, door or piece of furniture in her way as she was trying to locate either me or her food.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My instinct was to say to her, \u201cLook out, honey! Watch where you\u2019re going!\u201d However, my warning would be impossible for her to follow. How could she possibly fix her eyes on the prize with no sight? All I could do was pick her up, try and calm her down and, when her plate was ready, set her down in front of her dinner.<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been enjoying reading the book of Proverbs as of late because there is a lot of wisdom in it for those of us who tend to run without paying attention to where we\u2019re going. Proverbs 4:25-26 say, \u201c<\/span>Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.<\/span> Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways.\u201d Those verses may not help my dog but if I were to follow that advice, I don\u2019t think I would run into as many walls.<\/span><\/p>\n
