What Day Is It?<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Morning Devotional<\/span>:<\/p>\n

Every eight weeks I drive a sixty-mile round trip to take in a wrestling match. The two opponents are my little dog Zoey and her groomer.<\/span><\/p>\n

My dog will be eighteen years old this year. She is blind, deaf, and weighs approximately five pounds. Her groomer is the only person who has ever attempted to cut her hair or trim her nails. She has done an amazing job over the many years that I have had my dog and she is the only person I trust with her care, and for good reason. My dog is terrified of being groomed and it takes four hands to hold her down to do the job.<\/span><\/p>\n

Put my dog on the grooming table and she will attempt to break free and jump off. Bring the scissors near her face and she will pull her head away. Try to trim her front legs and she will stand on her hind legs. While my groomer is working on one end of her body, I am holding on to the other end for dear life. She will bark, she will growl, she will cry, she will resist at every turn. I have to believe the fear of what is coming next consumes her.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fear has a way of doing that. We fear what we don\u2019t see coming. We fear the thought of change. We fear the process of change as it\u2019s happening. We fear what we can\u2019t change. But when we realize we are in the hands of someone we trust, fear shouldn\u2019t have a place at all.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Second Timothy 1:7 says that \u201cGod has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.\u201d\u00a0 Because God is in control and we can trust him, He\u2019s given us every ability to rest in Him and trust in His plan.<\/span><\/p>\n

It would be nice if one day, Zoey would get through a grooming appointment and not panic. It would be great if I could do the same thing when God is bringing me through a period of change.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
