Morning Devotional<\/span>:<\/p>\n

I had to do something yesterday I really, really don\u2019t enjoy. I had to wait for something. I had to wait for a long, long time for it, too, and that made the waiting even worse. How bad was the wait, you might ask? It was such a long wait that I was able to take a pretty decent nap in a lobby. I normally don\u2019t appreciate waiting for anything. Waiting in lines, waiting on hold for a customer service representative or waiting in traffic is the worst thing imaginable for me. But this particular wait yesterday was actually pretty worthwhile because despite the inconvenience, it turned out that I really needed that little snooze.<\/span><\/p>\n

Waiting for the Lord is an instruction that I find hard to follow at times. It goes very much against my nature because I like to be busy and I like to get things done. When God calls me to wait for something, I get frustrated. Over the years that I have spent following Him, I have learned that waiting on God isn\u2019t just downtime. It involves intentionality. For me, it means shutting out distractions and things that would pull me away from His will and seeking out His wisdom and counsel. It also means taking the opportunity to receive what He has for me. Isaiah 40:31 says that \u201cthose who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.\u201d For me, the extra time in my day meant getting the gift of a little shuteye. You never know what the Father may have for you in the waiting room.<\/span><\/p>\n
