A trim board on my kitchen cupboards had come loose and needed to be reattached at one end. I took a look at the problem, assessed the situation and determined I only needed two things for the repair – a hammer and a nail.

Now the board in question was a piece of trim lining an edge below my sink so I had to do this small repair lying down on the floor, with the hammer and nail up in the air above my face. When I went to pound the nail in, I got the angle all wrong, leaving one very bent nail. Off I went to find a second nail, and then a third one, and so on. What should have been an easy fix turned out to be much more of a production than I originally intended.

In my hands, a hammer and nails don’t amount to much. But in a Roman soldier’s hands at Calvary, a hammer and nails could do a lot of damage when used to nail a person to a cross. When that person is Jesus? The nails mean everything – forgiveness and eternal life for all who believe. He did the hard work of carrying our sins to the cross. Believing in Him is the easy part.

– Beth

Burning Question:

What happened on your way to school?

Bible Quiz:

Question: What kind of being guarded the entrance to Eden?

Answer: Cherubim (Genesis 3:24)

Storytime: I want to be like Mercy when I grow up.

Just One More Thing

Morning Devotional: I like to think I am pretty skilled at simple household repairs and the one I faced yesterday evening should have been the simplest.
