Morning Devotional<\/span>:<\/p>\n

When I was in college I took a three-day silent retreat to try and hear from God. I was able to secure a small room at a convent, ate what I could pack in a small lunch cooler and spent every moment I could alone, silent, reading the Bible and praying. It was one of the best things I have ever done. I was yearning for some kind of intimate connection with the Father and for the first time I felt like He was truly present, with me, always.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I am at the point right now where I wish I could do that again \u2013 to just get away from everything, shut off the noise and the chaos and really, really be alone with God. I used to resist doing the whole getting away with God thing. I am a person who enjoys noise and clutter and chaos. But getting alone with God can do wonders for the soul. It is there where we are refreshed by Him, where we can hear Him, where we can simply BE with Him.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Mark chapter 1 we read that \u201cvery early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed.\u201d\u00a0 Did you ever stop to think that Jesus Himself craved those times when He could be alone with the Father?\u00a0 If Jesus needed time alone with His Father, it makes sense that we should, too.\u00a0 Let\u2019s be sure to take it.<\/span><\/p>\n
