If I let it go, who’s going to catch it?<\/p>\n

If you were to stop in my office, you would see that I have a number of personal items on display on my desk.\u00a0 I have a plaque with one of my favorite Bible verses on it, a few books, a Bible, a plastic plant, but one thing might look a bit out of place. It’s a baseball – not an actual baseball per se, but a foam stress ball made to look like one.<\/p>\n

I have been using it for a couple of years to help strengthen my hands after two carpal tunnel surgeries, but it has also come in handy during those times when the pressures of the day give me the impetus to squeeze the stress out of my bones.\u00a0 Giving my stress ball a few extra squeezes the other day, I got a bit curious about the concept of stress in the Word.<\/p>\n

Did you know that the word stress itself is nowhere in the Bible?\u00a0 There are a lot of words like it in the scriptures, though – words like anxiety, worry, trials, tribulations, burdens, fears, afflictions and cares.\u00a0 What are we supposed to do with those things?\u00a0 As you know, we are to cast all of our cares on God because He cares for us. My stress ball became a handy reminder of what I am to do with all of my stresses.\u00a0 Get rid of the white knuckled grip on them and toss them over to the One who can take them.\u00a0 Let them go!<\/p>\n
