Morning Devotional<\/span>:<\/p>\n

“Just say the word and I will be there.”<\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s what a friend of mine said to me the other day when I told him I needed help with a project at my house. Just say the word. I found myself a bit entertained by that little phrase for a second. I mean, what\u2019s the \u201cword?\u201d Since I\u2019m one who lives for investigative work, I went to my good friend the internet for an answer.<\/span><\/p>\n

It turns out that the Cambridge Advanced Learner\u2019s Dictionary and Thesaurus has a definition for the phrase. They define \u201csay the word\u201d as this: \u201cTo tell someone that you will do what they want at the time they ask for.\u201d\u00a0 I was immediately reminded of a story in God\u2019s Word.<\/span><\/p>\n

Do you remember the story of the Roman centurion in Matthew eight whose servant was dying? Jesus was approached by this centurion, who pleaded with him to save his life. Jesus offered to go to his home but the centurion replied by saying, \u201cLord, I am not worthy that you should come under my roof. But only say the word and my servant will be healed.\u201d\u00a0 The servant was healed at that hour and the centurion was commended for his great faith.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Considering our definition for the phrase \u201csay the word,\u201d it\u2019s a perfect fit. Do you have that kind of faith today? Do you trust in God that much to say that it is by His word alone that all things are accomplished? I hope you and I both can say that – and be a people of faith in Him, faith that is unshakeable.<\/span><\/p>\n
