I have craft projects that are unfinished, books I haven’t finished reading, laundry waiting to be folded. I have an afghan that I started probably close to 25 years ago now that I haven’t finished because I can’t figure out the stitch needed to complete the scalloped edging on it. I get to the point where the project is too hard, too boring or too tedious to finish and I set it aside to languish, thinking I might get it done someday.

That gets me to one of my greatest worries in my Christian walk. Am I ever going to get to the point when God loses interest in me and I am left unfinished? I’m reminded of a certain widow in Luke 15 who, when she lost a coin, tossed her entire house to find it. In Romans 8, Paul tells us that “He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all – how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?” That’s a God who loves us so much that he will not leave us where we are. And then there’s this statement Paul writes in Philippians 1, perhaps my favorite: “Being confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus.” We are works in progress, yes, but we are never abandoned in the process. God will finish what He started, and it will be good.

– Beth

Burning Question:

What does freedom mean to you?

Bible Quiz:

Question: According to Jesus in the gospel of Mark, who knows when the end times are going to happen?

Answer: The Father (Mark 13:32)

Storytime:

Just one more thing:

Morning Devotional: Do you ever have problems finishing projects? When it comes to stuff around the house, I am the worst.
