There was Adam and Eve and that tree with the forbidden fruit.\u00a0 Jacob and Esau and the bowl of stew. The Israelites and the whole quail thing. But we also see in the Word that much of the richness of God&#8217;s character is symbolized by food as well. Take for instance the manna in the wilderness and the miracle of the loaves and fishes &#8211; they symbolize God&#8217;s perfect supply. Jesus called himself the bread of life, and in Revelation, our eternal union with the Lord involves a marriage feast.\u00a0 I find the use of food in the Word so interesting, especially when you consider that in so many of those stories, what God wants us to know the most is the ache in our spiritual bellies is best satisfied in Him.<\/p>\n<p>Isaiah 55 includes a great invitation for us &#8211; a way to see our greatest hunger met:<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"chapter-2\"><span class=\"text Isa-55-1\">\u201cCome, all you who are thirsty,<\/span><\/span><span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text Isa-55-1\">come to the waters; <\/span><\/span><span class=\"text Isa-55-1\">and you who have no money,<\/span><span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text Isa-55-1\">come, buy and eat! <\/span><\/span><span class=\"text Isa-55-1\">Come, buy wine and milk<\/span><span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text Isa-55-1\">without money and without cost.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"en-NIV-18743\" class=\"text Isa-55-2\"><sup class=\"versenum\">\u00a0<\/sup>Why spend money on what is not bread, <\/span><span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"text Isa-55-2\">and your labor on what does not satisfy? <\/span><\/span><span class=\"text Isa-55-2\">Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,<\/span><span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text Isa-55-2\">and you will delight in the richest of fare.&#8221;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>That hunger pang in your heart?\u00a0 God will satisfy it when you go to Him.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Beth<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Burning Question<\/span>:<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s National Red Rose Day.
