I managed to get a hold of a devotional book someone left in the hospital chapel that asked a question: Who is God to you? The author laid out a number of possible answers, such as God could be your friend that you go to when you need someone to talk to. He could be that good father that supplies your need.\u00a0 At that moment, I knew who I wanted God to be. I needed Him to be my peace.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It&#8217;s not a difficult stretch to recall the kind of peace God gives us. It\u2019s not the kind of peace we get when circumstances all turn out well and good. That would be nice, right?\u00a0 But no, Jesus says in John 14:27 that the peace He gives us is not the kind that the world gives. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His peace isn\u2019t based on good circumstances. It is given to us and sticks around in spite of bad circumstances. Here is how Jesus says it in <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">John 16:33<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: \u201cI have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world, you will have trouble.
