Morning Devotional:<\/span><\/p>\n

I took a year of French in college and I have only had a couple of opportunities in my life to use what I learned of the language. One of those times was when I traveled to Haiti on a mission trip. I love language, and when I discovered the relationship between French and Haitian Creole, I had a blast trying to pick up some of the vocabulary and use it in daily conversation.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the place where we were staying, a local woman named Mimi had been hired to help prepare meals for our team. One afternoon I was sitting at the kitchen table reading my Bible when she proceeded to join me with a copy of her Bible – mine in English, hers in Haitian Creole. Not knowing a word of her language, and she knowing only a few words of broken English, we both somehow agreed to read John chapter three out loud together – one verse at a time, in each other\u2019s language.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When we both got to verse 16, something special happened. We read the verse together – in two languages but one voice, with a great sense of joy because we knew the fullness of what the verse meant. \u201cFor God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

If there is one truth that transcends any and every language, let it be that one.\u00a0 Jesus came to this earth to die on a cross for you, so you could be set free and be with Him for eternity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
