Morning Devotional:<\/span><\/p>\n

It was one of those things that made me ask why.<\/span><\/p>\n

My day yesterday could have easily been defined as a mad dash. I was rushing to get this done, rushing to get to this appointment, rushing to get here and there and when it was finally time to sit down and eat a meal, I wanted something good. Something I wouldn\u2019t normally have for supper.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yes, I had dessert for dinner.<\/span><\/p>\n

As I was eating my ice cream, chocolate, caramel, cookie crumble, way too many calories for me dessert for my evening meal, I enjoyed every spoonful of goodness and pondered the question, why is something this good always served last at a meal?\u00a0 Is it because we enjoy the anticipation of what is to come? The satisfaction that comes with that last sweet taste? What is\u00a0 it is with that feeling that comes with dessert that says, \u201call is well, enjoy?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

It just so happens that I was talking with a new friend this week about the anticipation of heaven and what it will be like when we are reunited with the Lord. Her words to describe heaven were very much like dessert – a sweet anticipation of the day when all will finally be made well.\u00a0 It will be a day as John writes in Revelation 21:4, when \u201c<\/span>He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.\u201d\u00a0 That day will be far better than any dessert.\u00a0 The best is yet to come.<\/span><\/p>\n
