Morning Devotional:<\/span><\/p>\n

I have a relative who at times is not much of a conversationalist. When I call him up on the phone and he is in a certain mood, our chat can be pretty short. It usually goes like this:<\/span><\/p>\n

Me:\u00a0 \u201cHi there! How are you doing?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Him:\u00a0 \u201cFine.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Me:\u00a0 \u201cHow was your day at work today?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Him:\u00a0 \u201cRough.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Me:\u00a0 \u201cUh oh. I heard you\u2019re looking for a new job.\u00a0 Any good leads out there?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Him:\u00a0 \u201cNope.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Me:\u00a0 \u201cWhat\u2019s happening with the family?\u00a0 Anything new?<\/span><\/p>\n

Him:\u00a0 \u201cNo.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

You get the drift, right?\u00a0 One-sided conversations are tough to maintain, even tougher to invest in and nearly impossible to receive from. They leave you hungry for more connection.<\/span><\/p>\n

Have you ever been in a one-sided conversation with God?\u00a0 Have you ever gone to the Lord and offered up the short, choppy prayer and later wonder why God doesn\u2019t respond to your requests? Prayer is conversation, an investment in relationship and the opportunity to pour out our heart to God in complete trust that He hears us and cares about what concerns us. Jesus himself prayed to the Father for hours on end – even all night, as it says in Luke 6:12. If He took the time to pray and converse with our Daddy God, shouldn\u2019t we?\u00a0 Don\u2019t cut your prayer time with Him short.<\/span><\/p>\n
