My dog Zoey has been deaf for some time now but she can still hear a few things.\u00a0 She can hear a loud whistle or a loud clap.\u00a0 Apparently she can also still hear the high-pitched chirping sound my smoke detectors make when the batteries are low.\u00a0 I had stepped out of the house for a few minutes to run an errand and by the time I came back, my dog was nowhere to be found. But once I heard the tell-tale chirping, I had a pretty good idea where she was.\u00a0 Sure enough, she had found a hiding place under the bed in my spare bedroom.\u00a0 For some reason, my Zoey has always been afraid of the chirping of the smoke detectors.\u00a0 I have no idea why, but whenever she hears that sound, she wants to hide.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We all seem to have triggers that cause us to instinctively go into panic mode.\u00a0 When fear strikes, our reaction is to run to a place of safety and shelter. We live in a scary place and these can be scary times, so isn\u2019t it good to know that we have a place where we can go when we are afraid?\u00a0 We can \u201c<\/span>dwell in the shelter of the Most High\u201d and \u201crest in the shadow of the Almighty\u201d as it says in Psalm 91.\u00a0 And we can make this declaration, too, from Psalm 27:1: \u201cThe Lord is my light and my salvation\u2014 whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life\u2014 of whom shall I be afraid?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Don\u2019t be afraid, friend. God will protect you.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
