When Jesus issued the Great Commission to go into all the world <\/u><\/u><\/span>preaching the Gospel,(Matthew 28: 19-20) the most advanced technology the disciples had were the sandals <\/u><\/u><\/span>on their feet. And, maybe a donkey or a camel.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

More than eighteen hundred years later, Charles Spurgeon said, \u201cIt is the <\/u><\/u><\/span>whole business of the whole church to preach the whole gospel to the whole world.\u201d <\/span>By then, the technology had advanced to steam engines, mostly in locomotives and ships. The world had <\/u><\/u><\/span>gotten smaller and it was easier to bring the whole Gospel to the whole world.\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

In 1954, a man named Dr. Paul Freed had the idea to bring the Gospel to <\/u><\/u><\/span>enormous areas of the world via radio. He wasn\u2019t a radio expert, but he had <\/u><\/u><\/span>a deep, abiding passion for saving the lost through the power of the Gospel <\/u><\/u><\/span>of Jesus Christ and he learned all he could about radio.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

God made a way for the ministry Freed envisioned. His book, Towers to <\/u><\/u><\/em><\/span>Eternity<\/em> details how the LORD miraculously provided all that was needed <\/u><\/u><\/span>(often at the last minute) in the early days of Trans World Radio (TWR).<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

Today, TWR broadcasts signals to areas occupied by over four billion <\/u><\/u><\/span>people in 190 countries in 300 languages. Over half the population of the <\/u><\/u><\/span>world has access to the Gospel at no charge<\/span>. The average cost to deliver the Gospel is one cent <\/u><\/u><\/span>per person.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, (February 7- 8) our Kinship <\/u><\/u><\/span>Radio Family will have the opportunity to partner with TWR. It\u2019s a natural <\/u><\/u><\/span>connection. Kinship listeners already know radio is a powerful and effective <\/u><\/u><\/span>way to deliver the Gospel while uplifting, supporting, encouraging, and equipping <\/u><\/u><\/span>people who are already believers.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

Representatives of TWR will be on-air with Kinship staff with details about <\/u><\/u><\/span>Radios for Africa. In some parts of the world, many people already have <\/u><\/u><\/span>radios. But in some parts of Africa, there\u2019s no electricity and no radios. <\/span>TWR provides durable radios with built-in <\/span>generators to these people.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

They just turn a crank, charge up the radio, and listen for hours with no <\/u><\/u><\/span>need to plug it in or buy batteries. In many cases, whole families or whole <\/u><\/u><\/span>villages will gather around the radio and hear the life-giving message of the <\/u><\/u><\/span>LORD Jesus.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s like putting a full-time missionary in an African village. And, even though <\/u><\/u><\/span>we still need and love human missionaries, a radio missionary never gets <\/u><\/u><\/span>sick and doesn\u2019t need to eat or drink or sleep –and the cost is $50 per <\/u><\/u><\/span>radio!<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

Pastor John Piper has said, \u201dThere are only three kinds of Christians when it comes to world missions: zealous goers, zealous senders, and disobedient.\u201d While that assessment may\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/span>seem a bit harsh, TWR makes it possible for virtually anyone to be a zealous sender \u2013for one cent per person reached.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

And that\u2019s miraculous indeed.<\/span><\/p>\n
