Morning Devotional:<\/span><\/p>\n

My drive home the other evening was a little darker than I expected but I didn\u2019t realize why until I pulled into my driveway and parked in front of my closed garage door. That\u2019s when I realized my car\u2019s headlights weren\u2019t turned on.<\/p>\n

I bought a different car recently and because my new vehicle is a base model without all of the bells and whistles, I don\u2019t have a feature on it that I used to have in my previous cars \u2013 automatic headlights. I have daytime running lights, but I have been having a hard time remembering to actually turn my headlights on when it gets dark outside. Thankfully my commute to and from work is short and well lit, but I have managed to earn my fair share of headlight flashes from oncoming cars to remind me to turn on my lights when I forget.<\/p>\n

My latest moment of forgetfulness had me considering the nature of the light we are to shine in this world as believers. As we know, God introduced light to the world, and He brought into our lives the light of the world in His son Jesus. As we read in 2 Corinthians 4:6, \u201cGod, who said \u2018Let light shine out of darkness,\u2019 made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God\u2019s glory displayed in the face of Christ.\u201d Now consider you and me as God\u2019s light bulbs. Do we as light bulbs have to try to make our own light? No. What makes that light shine out of us is making sure we are connected to the power source that is God, and that the switch completing the circuit is made through Jesus.<\/p>\n

Being connected to God through Jesus is our source for everything. I say we turn on the switch and let the light shine.<\/p>\n
