It\u2019s called One Square Inch, and it\u2019s a research project on the sanctuary for silence at Olympic National Park in Washington State. Now this came out of a research project where scientists were trying to locate areas in the U. S. that were completely cut off from human noise intrusions \u2013 things like traffic, airplane noise, the sound of engines, refrigerators, air conditioning, even the hum of electricity itself. The goal of the project is that by listening to the sounds of nature alone, people will become true listeners to their environment and protect what<br \/>\nthey consider an endangered resource \u2013 silence.<\/p>\n<p>I can relate to this effort. I mean, do you ever have a problem tuning out the world to hear the voice of God? Sure you do, and you\u2019re not alone.<\/p>\n<p>David writes in Psalm 62, \u201cMy soul waits in silence for God only, from Him is my salvation.\u201d The clutter of our everyday lives can easily get in the way of hearing His voice, but God is speaking to us. We need to get quiet before Him and listen.
