Morning Devotional<\/span><\/p>\n

Tuesday. January 10th:\u00a0 Are you a person who is ruled by the clock? I am, but my timetable is certainly not God\u2019s.<\/p>\n

On most days we have specific times to do things. We go to work at a specific time, we go to meetings at assigned times, we have scheduled appointments we need to attend. But inevitably there are times when things don\u2019t happen according to our pre-set schedule and we get thrown off. When something happens earlier than planned, I can usually cope \u2013 but when something is late, that\u2019s when I start to get concerned.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s because I don\u2019t like to wait. Who does nowadays? We live in an instant gratification, get it now kind of society. I went shopping yesterday in a store where I didn\u2019t even have to wait in a checkout line \u2013 I paid for my items with my phone! So when it comes to waiting on God to do something, to answer a prayer or deliver on a promise, it is all the more difficult because we\u2019ve become impatient. We\u2019re less and less accustomed to the waiting.<\/p>\n

But what does God say about waiting? \u201cThere is an appointed time for everything, and there is a time for every matter under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1) \u201cHumble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time.\u201d (1 Peter 5:1) When you think about it, God\u2019s greatest gift to us required waiting for the ideal moment: \u201cWhen the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son.\u201d (Galatians 4:4)<\/p>\n

Do you get the impression that God has good things for those who wait on Him? Sure. So, what is our response to be?<\/p>\n

I like this one from Psalm 31:14-15: \u201cBut as for me, I trust in You, Lord, I say, \u2018You are my God. My times are in Your hand.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
