If you dare say it, most people will suddenly go quiet and stare.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0The stares may turn to glares.\u00a0 Nevertheless, somebody has to speak the truth about the elephant in the room.\u00a0 The elephant that<\/span> most are claiming is really a Zebra or a Kangaroo or a Seahorse.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0The elephant in the room is the question; <\/span>\u201c<\/span><\/i>Why <\/span><\/i>is this Covid-19 pandemic happening?\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0 I\u2019ll embrace that risk and say that the Covid-19 is a message from God about the idols of our life, culture and world.\u00a0 Furthermore, the sooner we receive this message and seek God\u2019s mercy and forgiveness, the sooner our country will be restored.\u00a0 Think, for a moment, about the things which have been removed from our daily lives. One of first to go were Sports. Are sports bad?\u00a0 No! B<\/span>ut when they become an idol they become spiritually toxic. And when tens of millions of people look upon an NFL Sunday as \u201cGameday\u201d rather than the Sabbath, sports are an idol.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The next idol to crumble has been entertainment.\u00a0 Movie theatres, Broadway plays, music concerts. Gone.\u00a0 Which was quickly followed by the demise of the entire leisure industry as cruise ships, vacations, ho<\/span>tels all closed.\u00a0 Let\u2019s not forget our obsession with money and security which are now on the brink of collapse. Finally, our freedom. We, who have long practiced the grand tradition of going wherever and whenever we want, are suddenly to<\/span>ld to stay home.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Do you think God is trying to tell us something?\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0I believe He is.\u00a0 And the message is that we, who have sown the wind, are now reaping the whirlwind.\u00a0 I will share that truth. That said, I will also be super-quick to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ\u2026t<\/span><\/span>hat God is love and does not willingly bring affliction or grief to anyone. <\/span>(Lamentations 3:33).<\/span>\u00a0 And that His purpose with Covid-19, as with all of His chastisements, is not to punish but to turn \u2026or return\u2026people to Himself.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The solution to Covid-19 does not\u00a0lay\u00a0in Purell, social distancing or N95 masks. \u00a0 The solution is in repentance and trust.
