{"id":1209,"date":"2015-02-12T01:44:00","date_gmt":"2015-02-12T01:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kinshipradio.org\/home\/2015\/02\/12\/disturbing\/"},"modified":"2015-02-12T01:44:00","modified_gmt":"2015-02-12T01:44:00","slug":"disturbing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kinshipradio.org\/home\/disturbing\/","title":{"rendered":"Disturbing"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-szyZJXJHj40\/VNwFXBxpWUI\/AAAAAAAAAlg\/fjjGWiKraw0\/s1600\/broken-plate.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" rel=\"prettyPhoto[gallery-zJFI]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-szyZJXJHj40\/VNwFXBxpWUI\/AAAAAAAAAlg\/fjjGWiKraw0\/s1600\/broken-plate.jpg\" height=\"265\" width=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">There\u2019s an old Monty Python skit where a couple who appear to be lovers or perhaps newlyweds are seated at an outdoor restaurant and an odd-looking reverend with a suitcase walks up to them and asks, \u201cExcuse me, do you mind if I join you?\u201d<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">You can tell by their expressions that they would really rather be alone, but because they don\u2019t want to be rude, they invite him to sit down.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">\u201cAre you sure you don\u2019t mind?\u201d He asks. \u201cAre you sure I won\u2019t be disturbing you?\u201d<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">The couple, again being very polite, invites him to sit down.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">He asks them <i>three times<\/i> if he will be disturbing them. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">You can tell they are disturbed just by the frequency of his use of the word \u201cdisturbing.\u201d Still, they insist that he join them.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">The reverend sits down and immediately begins waving his hands around and says, \u201cA lot of people are far less understanding than you are. A lot of people take offense when I even talk to them, let alone when I specifically tell them about my being disturbing.\u201d <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">T<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">he couple squirms in their seats.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">He then begins doing some <i>very <\/i>disturbing things like pinching them on the cheeks, pulling dishes out of a suitcase and breaking them on the table, and waving odd things around\u2014all while singing, \u201cDOO DOO DO DOO\u201d in a very loud voice.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">Lately, I kind of feel like that reverend. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">I think I have a condition called \u201cJesus\u201d and some people find it a bit disturbing.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">Honestly, I\u2019m not trying to make people squirm. I\u2019m really trying very hard not to pinch people on the cheek and say, \u201cGod loves you!\u201d<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">I want to talk to people about Jesus. I want to discuss the Bible and all the little nuances and details of how amazing the LORD is and the incredible richness, height, depth, breadth, and lengths of His love.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">I want to break some plates and wake people up and sing praise songs really loud and just be obnoxiously zealous for the LORD!<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">See?<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">I\u2019m doing it now. &nbsp;Did you feel yourself squirm just a bit? <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">Most people are polite and just put up with me, hoping I\u2019ll move on to something else. And, I usually do&#8211; when I can eventually tell I\u2019m disturbing them.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">It even happens in church when I say, \u201cHallelujah!\u201d <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">And nobody else does. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">Maybe, eventually, I will settle back down into my polite, Midwestern self that avoids any public display of emotion (especially about religion!) and stop making people feel so uncomfortable. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">But I hope not.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">Today\u2019s Praise<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<div><b><i><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/div>\n<div><b><i><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">Come! Let us sing joyfully to the LORD!<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/div>\n<div><b><i><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">Let us shout for joy to the rock of our salvation.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/div>\n<div><b><i><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/div>\n<div><b><i><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">let us shout with songs of praise to him.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/div>\n<div><b><i><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">For the LORD is an awesome God;<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/div>\n<div><b><i><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">a great king above all divine beings.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/div>\n<div><b><i><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">He holds in his hand the lowest parts of the earth<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/div>\n<div><b><i><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">and the mountain peaks belong to him.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/div>\n<div><b><i><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">The sea that he made belongs to him,<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/div>\n<div><b><i><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">along with the dry land that his hands formed.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/div>\n<div><b><i><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">Come!
